ABSTRACT
Background
:
The
Nutritional problem in infants less than food as well as Mother's Milk (ASI) was replaced
with milk bottles in a manner and amount that does not meet the requirement.
Infant growth and development are largely determined by the amount of milk
obtained by including energy and other nutrients contained in breast milk are
many mothers who are reluctant or unwilling to breastfeed their babies,
especially in the first and second day after birth with a variety of reasons,
among others, the existence of myths that mislead the community that the milk
comes out the first time should be discarded because it is dirty.
Objective
:
To
identify factors associated with exclusive breastfeeding in infants at
Puskesmas Tambu.
Methods:
This
observational analytic design with Cross Research. Sectional. The population
was mothers who had infants aged 6-11 months and the number of samples in this
research is 49 respondent which taken with tehnikl purposive sampling.
Results
:
The
univariate analysis showed a good knowledge of exclusive breast feeding 25
people (51.0%), which have a low education 39 (79.6%), and that does not work
46 people (93.9%) that have a good attitude 25 people (51.0%). Results of
bivariate analysis of maternal knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding and
obtained a value of P 0.715 (P> 0.05) no statistically significant
relationship between pengatahuan with exclusive breastfeeding, the analysis of
exclusive breastfeeding education with P value of 0.715 was obtained (P> 0,
2005) showed that statistically there was no correlation between education with
exclusive breastfeeding. Between jobs with exclusive breastfeeding from the
results obtained by analyzing the P value was 0.386 (P> 0.05) indicates that
there is no relationship between employment with exclusive breastfeeding. While
the value of P between attitude and exclusive breastfeeding is 0.700 (P>
0.05) indicates that there is no relationship between attitude and exclusive
breastfeeding.
Conclusion
:
There is
no correlation between knowledge, education, occupation and attitude with
exclusive breastfeeding. Suggestions need to study with variables and other
more complex populations associated with
exclusive breastfeeding. Key words : Knowledge, exclusive breastfeeding.
